Question by ~Lovely~: What is the job market like in Las Vegas compared to Los Angeles?
I am considering leaving Los Angeles to Las Vegas for a fresh start.I wanted to know what industries have the most jobs available. I am 22 so I don’t have a lot of work experience. Most of my work experience is in Customer service and Security. I am also interested in going to cosmetology school there, or possibly studying art.

Job market is terrible here. Major casinos are laying off workers. That is where the most jobs here in vegas are situated. When they do have to hire someone there are 50 applicants for each opening. Plus the fact they are experienced and already live here makes it even more difficult for someone to move here and find work. The area that is still doing well is security but there are reasons for it. I would not suggest moving here at this time.

I’m a 20 year old immigrant living in Vegas and I’m having a hard time looking for a job since I’m in a wheelchair and my job background used to be for call centers and I’ve tried applying to so much call center companies but I get nothing. Usually scams like American Income Life, One Stop Motors, etc. Starting to lose hope. Please help.

I’m interested in warehouse, shipping clerk jobs out here in Vegas. I already tried UPS but they don’t have any openings…
I wouldn’t mind working any customer service jobs either.
I would definitely like to work outside of the strip.
Also, I would LOVE to have graveyard shifts (that is my preference).
Any suggestions?

Try Walmart, they are about the only ones still hiring. They always need for the graveyard shift.

Can some out there shed some light on what the job market is like in Las Vegas these days away from the casinos. Like taxi jobs, customer service jobs, collections, sales, or anything any position at a company. Is it competative?

All I can suggest is trying some of the online job hunting websites. They should be able to give you a feel for who is hiring in Las Vegas. However, since casinos are the big business in town, those will be most available jobs. There will also be a lot of public sector jobs that cater to the casinos and hotels. And not all casino jobs are related to gambling, so you might still be able to find something to your liking there.

I don’t want to work in casino… everyone who works there are kind of “off” because they work strange hours of the night, but it seems like it’s daytime inside.

I have a full-time job for a software company in which I can work from anywhere that I have an internet connection. I have also been extremely successful over the last 9 years playing poker online and in live action games. I am looking to move somewhere where I can play poker after work (6:00PM and later) and on the weekends. So I figure what better place to find 24/7 games than Vegas? Not to mention the WSOP coming up in June.
I have researched and found that Summerlin and Henderson seem to be the best places to live. Can anyone provide me with some specific apartment complex names that are in the good part of these cities? I just want 3-5 complex names and I’ll narrow it down from there and research them further. Any advice or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Rebecca Estates has really nice trailers for rent. If you really must have an apartment, check out the high rise called Tuttle Air Apartments. They have 24 hour live surveillance.
