I’m a professional working in a support engineering role at a leading business software company. I want to do something more closer to my major, such as a software architect or application developer. Are there any forums that you can recommend where I can share my enthusiasm for this field, and meet some people that are in the field?

There a need for a business concept to reality service?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on April 10th, 2012
Question by James C: There a need for a business concept to reality service?
Hello
I have been developing, outsourcing and marketing my own products for about 8 years, I am semi successful but no multi-millionaire yet.
Sometimes I get asked by friends, family and customers how they would go about turning their business concept into reality. Everything from help designing the product, getting it produced and finally marketing it. It is a complicated and not written in stone process, business plans, marketing plans, venture capital, SBA loans etc, trademarks etc, target markets, research etc.
However do you think people would pay to get help in this process? I do not have the time to sit down with each one and write their business plan, but I can give them tips and resources to do so. (suggest software etc) then I can help them source and develop prototypes, contact the designers I know etc. So I would be more of a business development consultant but more on basic level.
Do you think there is a market for such a service?

There is a market for what you describe. I would suggest that participating in the development of a business plan is usually a step that entrepreneurs could use help on. This is because they are often very close to the technical or service part of their business concept but they don’t have the experience in the business plan. When dealing with trying to raise funds a realistic business plan is a must. You might get some ideas from reading this article:

To be honest, you are probably not going to find a job working from home. Any opportunities you find that requires a start up fee or money up front is a scam, don’t get sucked in!!
I encourage you to immediately put these jobs out of your mind. Here are some of my tips when looking for a job….
Networking – Register at your local Unemployment Office (you don’t need to be on unemployment to register for their assistance). They often will have networking groups on a regular basis. They also are a good source for the jobs that never show up in the paper or online.
Check your local paper — In many cases the paper’s classified are now online.
Search Smart Online — If you don’t have a lot of time, spend most of your time at sites that aggregate the job feeds from several job search engines. Prominently these include indeed.com and thingamajob.com.
Organization — I use a free online application that allows you to track your ads, jobs you apply for, send or print mail merged correspondence, and track your job search history. This site is jobsearchlog.com
I invite you to check it out and you’ll be able to keep track of what you apply for.
Good Luck,
Karen
