Terror by Night: Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce (1946 Sherlock Holmes Movie)

It was directed by Roy William Neill, and stars Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. The story revolves around the theft of a famous diamond aboard a train. In London, a young woman named Vivian Vedder (Renee Godfrey) verifies that a carpenter has completed a coffin for her recently deceased mother’s body, which she is transporting to Scotland by train. She boards the train that evening, as do Lady Margaret Carstairs (Mary Forbes), who owns and is transporting the famous Star of Rhodesia diamond; Lady Margaret’s son Roland (Geoffrey Steele); Holmes, whom Roland has hired to protect the diamond; Inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey), who is also worried about the diamond’s safety; and Watson and his friend Major Duncan-Bleek (Alan Mowbray). Holmes briefly examines the diamond. Shortly afterward, Roland is murdered and the diamond is stolen. Lestrade, Holmes, and Watson learn nothing conclusive in questioning the other passengers, and Holmes is pushed out of the train, nearly to his death, but he climbs back inside and discovers a secret compartment in the coffin carrying Miss Vedder’s mother. One can always hope! While the two countries have a rocky past they seem to stay some what civil.
As a side comment I once asked a person I knew, who traveled to the east if he had ever been to Cashmere. He replied yes often when ever he lights his bong and turns on Led Zeppelin. That was the end of our friendship.

Pune varsity teaches how to tackle terror

As citizen activism gathers momentum in Mumbai post the terror attacks, neighbouring Pune too has come up with a plan. The Pune University will now introduce a course on disaster management in all degree courses, making it mandatory for students to pass this course to complete their degrees.

Travelling to INDIA. US embassy warns of terror attack threat in Delhi Watch live

Best place to visit in INDIA.But CANADA has joined US,UK and Australia in warning their citizens who may be travelling to India about a threat of an imminent terrorist attack in the capital New Delhi. (Read: US advisory warns of Delhi attack, cops on alert) In an email circulated on Saturday to registered Canadians living in India, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said, “while there is a continuing threat of terrorist attacks throughout India at all times, credible and specific reporting indicates that a terrorist attack could be carried in the following days or weeks, in market areas of Delhi frequented by foreigners.” The travel advisory was the third sent out in recent days and warns travellers to avoid New Delhi’s popular Chandni Chowk area in Old Delhi. “We advise to exercise a high degree of caution, to monitor your surroundings and to minimise your presence in market areas of the city,” the advisory said. New Delhi has been relatively safe over the past year and a half. The advisory also comes as India and Pakistan attempt to normalise diplomatic ties. This week both the south Asian neighbours agreed to schedule meetings between foreign ministers. “Canadians are urged to exercise a high degree of caution, monitor their surroundings and minimise their presence in market areas of the city,” the Foreign Affairs notice said.
