If you can take a job offer and work and still keep looking for a better job than by all means do so, any job is better than none, and you can learn skills from even the lowest job, sitting around and waiting is not good for your health, it is better to be doing something than nothing. I myself have taken jobs far below what I wanted at different times and continued to learn new and valuable things, while at the same time I was looking for a better job.

I have resigned due to personal reasons. What should I state as the reason for job change during interviews ?

Question by Gaurav R: I have resigned due to personal reasons. What should I state as the reason for job change during interviews ?
I work as an Assistant Manager with a BPO. Recently, I had demoted a girl from my team, so as a revenge she logged a complaint with my HR department on account of Sexual Harassment for a stupid forward I sent to all my friends(150) on Facebook. I was forced to resign and mention it as personal reasons for leaving the job.If I had fought the case with NASSCOM, most probably I would have lost and then they would have to terminate me.Thats the reason they asked me to resign and leave with the relieveing letter, rather than getting terminated.Since I am in a managerial position, it was better to quit. The good part is that my manager is ready to be my reference also when recruiters would do reference checks fo rme. However, what should I mention as the reason for leaving one job before having another in the hand ? An answer which my manager can also state while answering the reference check calls for me. Please Advise

First of all managers should not send emails like facebook and all. But anyways, you can say you were going to move to another part of the country to but things did not work out and you are now back to search in same area.

What kind of insurance should I buy for my software company?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on December 15th, 2011
Question by Derek C: What kind of insurance should I buy for my software company?
My software company is an LLC which sells database tracking type software to businesses for about $ 400 each. In addition to protecting my personal assets with the LLC, I would also like to purchase insurance against any lawsuits that might arise from a customer who might claim that the software caused them to lose time or money in some way. This is a one person product company, not a service business. Should I be looking for E&O insurance, Professional Liability insurance, or ?

Also Income Replacement in case of sickness and accidents.

Sales- and Business Development-related books, of course. Small company with two small international branches.

These are my recommended sales/marketing books for software companies: http://www.software-marketing-advisor.com/software-marketing-books.html
They’re not all specific to selling software. Many are general sales books that I think are the most valuable (were to me) for selling and marketing enterprise software.
Good luck!

Q&A: Why should private insurance companies have to compete with a public plan?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on December 10th, 2011
Question by Ted: Why should private insurance companies have to compete with a public plan?
It’s unfair. That’s what they make insurance companies do in countries like Europe. The Australian private insurers are stuck having public option cutting into their profits. Why do the Obammunists want that here? We are not Australia. We are free! Private schools could make a lot more money if there were no public option in schooling. This is not healthy for capitalism!

If Uncle Sam makes all the rules then be assured that the result is not fair competition.
I don’t know where you live but in my area there are no private schools whose purpose is to maximize profit. They mostly exist because the public schools need improvement.

Hi, the choice of your company totally depends on what you seek to achieve.
This is more of a small vs. large company dilemma that most fresh graduates face (I faced the same).
Based on my my experience of working for a small company and of what I have heard from my friends in large companies, I can list the following:
Small companies:
a. Small companies give you a head start in career as compared to large companies.
b. Typically, you work on more number of projects and hence get more exposure
c. you are not no bench for a very long duration. Usually less than one week. This ensures you are busy all the time
d. You get more exposure and visibility as the number of employees is less
e. Customised training for project deliver
Large companies:
a. Brand value
b. Larger offices
c. General training to cover all campus graduates from computers, electronics, civil and other streams
Both small and larger companies offer good clients to work for but small companies offer better learning as you get better exposure and in depth learning as compared to bigger companies.
My suggestion will be go for small companies that will offer a better learning opportunity and quality exposure.

Q&A: Should the big three automakers go to oil companies for a handout?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on December 9th, 2011
Question by Emily K: Should the big three automakers go to oil companies for a handout?
Seems like a good idea, no? The oil companies owe a lot to the big three, and without them there, the oil companies would surely see a drop in demand and therefore, a drop in profit (well, a little bit). Anyway, I know it’s a far stretch, but any thoughts?

I think the big three should go to the unions for a handout. It was the unions that put them in their current position anyway.

What job title should I ask for?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on December 9th, 2011
Question by servo46250: What job title should I ask for?
I have a job offer in which I would be working 3 main functions, doing financial analysis, marketing database development and maintainence, and working on marketing and operations projects. I currently have an analyst title (marketing research analyst), and would rather have a title that indicates a promotion, as it is a pretty hefty salary increase. The company has indicated they are flexible with they title, which they have named Senior Business Analyst. (the senior part doesn’t do it for me in terms of showing what I would like to) I don’t know if they would go for an AVP title, but if they would, AVP of what? Marketing and Finance? They do not have an AVP in either role currently, though they have a number of AVP’s in other areas. They might be more apt to choose something in between Sr. Analyst and AVP. But what would that be? The position reports to the EVP/CFO and is under the Finance area. This is the banking industry. Thanks in advance!
