Careers with little to no customer service?

Question by Me: Careers with little to no customer service?
After working in retail I have realized customer service is not meant for me. Are there any good careers (not jobs) out there that deal with little to no customer service? Please, serious answers only.
Preferably something requiring college. I want to go back to school but I’m at a loss when it comes to knowing what I want to do in life.

Q&A: no direct customer service or cash handling experience, is it possible to find a job as a bank teller?

Question by Jamie R: no direct customer service or cash handling experience, is it possible to find a job as a bank teller?
i want to get into banking, and an entry-level job as a bank teller seems like the best way to start. i’m getting a degree (business)…but i dont’ really have any prior cash handling or customer service experience…just wondering if these r really necessary before i apply for a bank teller job.

They do want that generally. A good way to get cash experience is to get a job as a data proof encoder. It’s essentially ten key data entry, but it’ll give you experience plus get you in the door.

Q&A: is being a customer service associate at magic waters boring?

Question by ikenbear: is being a customer service associate at magic waters boring?
im 15 and looking for a job. I may be getting a job there soon but i heard from someone who used to work there as a customer service associate that it was really boring, and the hours were random.
Does anybody know anything about what i am talking about? or just about working at magic waters in general?

Best answer:

Answer by Mary
I am not sure what Magic Waters is…but I can say I have done customer service for 5 years and LOVE IT….i have learned over the years it is as fun as you make it and you have to play with your guest/customers…….learn to ‘juice every jam’ (make the best out of a bad/sticky situation) you get into and your life in general will be better. But if you go into the job with the attitude that it sucks and is boring that is all you will get out of it.
Good Luck and HAVE FUN!

What’s the best option for customer service for small online shop?

Question by Paul: What’s the best option for customer service for small online shop?
I am building an e-commerce site and I have most aspects set. But a big problem is customer service. I have a day job and can’t take calls regarding my own business at work. What service or solution can I use to address this. I need customer service and order taking but really only need one person since it will be slow at first.

I thought maybe a virtual assistant or indian call center. But those are expensive.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

If your schedule is reliable, then you could have inquiries made via e-mail with a promise that someone will get back to them within a few hours to answer questions or confirm an order. With a small online shop, visitors obviously prefer but aren’t actually expecting a number to call for assistance and e-mail is sufficient. Putting an app on the site that lets them fill in a form is even better, because they don’t feel like their communication has disappeared into the ether.

Depending on the nature of your business, you might not find a virtual assistant very helpful beyond taking messages — customer queries typically fall on technical problems with the site or fit and colour if it’s clothing, etc. I’m not sure what the capabilities are of a V.A. service, but they could end up a little lost if the questions asked require a certain intimacy with your product.

Until you’ve been live for a few weeks or months and you know what kind of service queries are coming in, you can probably handle your own customer service with a Blackberry or just regular access to a computer.

Does a job in fast food count as experience in customer service?

Question by Strawz: Does a job in fast food count as experience in customer service?
I’m embarrassed to ask, but I’m filling out an application that I really want to go well, and it’s asked me if I have experience working in a retail environment and previous customer service experience.
I’ve been working as a cashier/runner/server at a fast food restaurant for many years and am wondering if I could answer yes to both their questions.

Yes it does. It is actually the most difficult position of dealing with customers.

Is this considered customer service experience?

Question by Catherine C: Is this considered customer service experience?
I work at a business where they host parties. I basically cater to the needs of the party guest and clients. I don’t service food or anything I just do basic clean up if there is a spill and break down after the event is over. I also greet guest and tell them where to go along with doing coat check.

Im trying to get a retail position before I start school this summer and I know I have a better chance of getting that job if I have customer service experience.

I work as a customer service operator at a electronic store. My job really makes me hate people! They think that because we are over the phone and not face to face they can say whatever they want! Are they forgeting that we are people also?? If I had the opertunity to go to their job and be a total bitch guess what, I wouldn’t even do it!
