Question by Lanette: What industry and jobs should I look for with my experience in retail and security?
I have done customer service for five years with Bed, Bath, and Beyond and K-Mart, and worked for AlliedBarton Security Services for 8 months. I have done retail sales for two years and training for three years. What jobs and industries should I consider working in? I also have a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management.

If it is an area you enjoy you may want to look into personal protection companies. I’m sure they would value your skills and experience. There seems to be a growing trend in this field as I’m seeing more colleges offering degrees. One thing that comes to mind is working for a company procuring government contracts.

I have these 2 topics to cover for an assignment, but after much research, i found that these two have a lot of similarities. the business continuity process talks about strategic disaster recovery planning. Can someone please help me understand the main difference between these two? Please help. Thank you.

What’s the Difference Between Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery?
Business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) are frequently confused. Business continuity is characterized by the following:
• It begins before the disruption / incident
• It is continuous
• It is focused on business processes
In contrast, disaster recovery is characterized by the following:
• It begins at the time of the disruption / incident
• It ends at the resumption of normal operations
• It is focused on resources
Disaster recovery is the process by which you resume business after a disruptive event. The event might be something huge, an earthquake, for example, or something small, like malfunctioning software caused by a computer virus. Often, the two terms are married under the acronym BC/DR.
“Business continuity planning” describes how an organization responds to an event to ensure the business is running (even if manually or in a limited capacity). “Disaster Recovery” is having plans in place to handle the aftermath. Either DR or BC determine how a company will keep functioning after a disruptive event until its normal facilities are restored.

Rationally, the need for security would have already been met by another company. If you do not represent a company, look into working for one if this is your dream to work security on a freighter.

I am looking for a new job, and found a bank loan processor customer service job.It is at bank thru a temp agency “NO Experience will train RIGHT CANDIDATE”.
I put in my resume (2 years law enforcement, 6 years security guard and computer literate yda ydaya).
I called the temp agency after I put in my resume, and was avoided at front desk. I called 2nd day then got into a little spat with the temp agency recruiter, about how he said, law enforcement is not a customer service job “looking for other candidates.” Then what is customer service ? I get a call at 3am on a domestic dispute and you have to come to a conclusion to arrest not arrest how to resolve the problem and be nice and Professional. Then wright a report on it.
I thought that was as good as customer service can get. So am I wrong or is law enforcement or security considered customer service?

why would you call a temporary job agency hons looking for a job in law enforcement hons. your loking in the wrong places. you should be running downe the street hons and visting your local donut shop hons. this is were you can eat a ton of donuts drink cofee and find the cops sitting on there@ass hons.you are lokoing in wrong places. go there donut shop and talk too cops hons. its a great carerr sitting on your@as eat donuts and stare out window.

I need to scope out an effort to put security in a company’s system. What are some of the things I need to spec and what standards do I need to comply with. Basically, users will need access inside to inside our company’s network and access our data base to request data. We have to authenticate them, protect their ID, and send them the data. It’s not complicated but I’d need someone with a pretty solid background in security to do it. Any help would be appreciated. High level or low level responses are welcome.

If you have been asked to do this then you should know. Otherwise your company’s security status is really poor. Your company should employ a real professional to do it, not someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. Security systems can be complex and if you don’t know what you are doing and set it up then you will be in for some trouble in the future, if not sooner. What if people come to you with a problem saying this doesn’t work or that doesn’t work? You will be screwed, since you don’t know about it. I suggest that you tell this company to employ the right people for the job. No offence aimed at you of course, but you must understand that if someone set up their security system after asking about it on yahoo answers and somebody hacks into your system and steals files or whatever, you will have a lot of explaining to do. Especially if there is important information about people.
