Q&A: How can I seek a permanent position at a company I am temporarily employed by?

Question by cjmemay: How can I seek a permanent position at a company I am temporarily employed by?
I got a job this week working for a web developer/e-commerce business. They needed a “college student” to finish a “quick IT/Networking” project. Basically, their IT guy quit, and left the place a mess.
I have already completed wiring the network throughout the building, and everyone is up and running. They have asked me to organize some of the hardware and software, as it was previously a mess.
Currently, it seems, I am employed project to project, I would like to stay on with this company but I am primarily a web-designer, does anyone know of any techniques, or have any advice on how I make the transition from, the guy sorting through boxes in the corner to a new designer?
I am sure I am slightly less qualified than their other designers (not totally familiar with Flash, etc), but are there any techniques I can use to sell the attributes I do have?

Just be honest and sincere and tell them the reason why you are interested in this position rather than accounting, but be sure not to say anything that would not get you the job i.e “I only want the job temporarily while I search for a better accounting job”.
I had a phone interview for a Sears Managerial Internship but I am a Construction Engineering Management major and I couldn’t find any internships that were in the construction industry. Therefore, when they asked why did I want this position when it doesn’t correlate to my studies, I told them that I wanted the managerial experience and have always had an interest in retail management (I worked at Sears in high school). Therefore I was honest with my answer and didn’t compromise myself from the position.
Just be honest is the best tip I can give.
Good luck!

I have a cold and a job interview for a customer service position.. How bad does it look?

Question by Jess: I have a cold and a job interview for a customer service position.. How bad does it look?
I have a cold, and therefore a very hoarse voice. It’s for an over the phone customer service position. I’m going to take halls to suck on and try not to make that smacking noise, but I don’t know if anything else will help the fact that this isn’t my voice right now and I think it will effect my ability to get the job. It shows that when I’m sick I’ll still show up, but I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. Help! I need someone else’s opinion. Wish me luck! Thank you

Tell them when you show up that you have a cold and tell them that is why you don’t want to shake hands (only if they reach out). Just keep it as descret as you can.
Good Luck!

www.liveops.com all these work at home call centers you need a wired high speed internet it can’t be satellite it has to be dsl or cable. Also there are other at home call centers you can have her go to www.ratracerebellion.com it has more options. Liveops does not pay for training and other companies that are legit will pay for training a really great company to work for is Teletech you can go to www.hirepoint.com you do need to have experience, they pay approxiamately 10.00 an hour and you get hra benefits and you are an hourly employee some of the other at home call centers you are not hourly they pay you by the minute that you are on the phone with the customer so if you get no calls you don’t get paid. Also with kids you have to have a quiet background no background noises whatsoever my friend got fired from a job with west at home because they heard her sons fighting in the background. Remember there are legit at home jobs. Hope this helps

How much actual experience do you have in biz analysis? That would be the driving factor.
You don’t want to price yourself out of a job by asking for more that you’re worth. But, no sense in leaving money on the table.
Do this:
1) Go to salary.com and see what the high, low, and median salaries are for BAs in your area.
2) Go to monster.com and careerbuilder.com and check out similar jobs and see what they are paying. In some cases, they will advertise the salary range.
3) During the interview, see if they will give you the salary “range.” Then, when they ask you, you what you want, you will be armed with enough business intel to make the right call.
