Q&A: Phone Interview with Call Center job?

Question by GSP: Phone Interview with Call Center job?
Hey, so I have a phone interview on Monday for a call center job. I don’t have any call experience. Apparently it’s going to be 30 mins. I’m already feeling nervous. What should I expect in the interview? And, what is the best answer to “why are you interested in this job”.

Answer by MavistheMaven
Phone interviews are usually just screening calls to make sure you have the basic skills needed for the job. BUT, for a call center job, they may want to interview you over the phone to see how you come across on the phone, so be aware of that. Speak clearly, use a friendly tone, and use your voice to convey an impression of reassurance and capability. I don’t mean you should fake anything, but try not to let your voice get all high and fast from nervousness.
You don’t say what kind of call center it is, so it’s hard to know what they’ll ask you. Is it a sales call center, a tech support call center, or what?
Why DO you want to work there? I’m guessing you’d probably be willing to work anywhere that pays, but why would you prefer working at a call center to working at McDonald’s or in a mall store or driving a garbage truck? Maybe you like people and would enjoy talking with them all day. Maybe working in an office environment is a big deal to you. Or you want to use your tech support skills, or your friend works there are has good things to say about it.
Chances are, you won’t have to talk for the entire 30 minutes. They will probably spend some time telling you about the job and the company. Have a couple of questions ready to ask them, to show you’re interested.
What do you think? Answer below!

Mainemode:
You can not work from home as tech support consultant as a freelancer. Rather i would say it won’t be agood business preposition. what you should do is to contact organizations ( either principal organizations like Dell, Intel etc or the organization that are in to outsourcing business) . find out if they allow their employees to work from home – many do.
Please give more details on your specialization area, geographical location etc. may be i will be able to guide you to right company

Q&A: How cell phone company interconnection works?

Question by asianpaperboy: How cell phone company interconnection works?
How do telephone companies interconnect with each other?
For example, user of company X calls user of company Y. Does company X have to pay company Y? Or the other way around?

Cell phone companies have entities called “HLR”s (Home Location Registers) and “VLR”s (Visitor Location Registers)
HLRs are like static databases. Your HLR is probably near the area where you bought the phone. They don’t change much unless people add/remove/change their phone service. These keep track of what your home market is and what features you pay for on your phone service.
VLRs are different- they are dynamic- they are databases that keep track of who is nearby with their phone on.
When you turn your phone on, the nearby VLR senses your presence (through the nearby mobile antenna tower) It then hunts for your HLR to determine what features you have on your phone. If you are on some other company’s network, the VLR can still find your HLR- that is, if the mobile technology is similar between the two companies. (I think this was more common in the analog mobile phone era though) The VLR will then permit you/deny you to make calls.
I don’t know much about pricing; I do know that one company will have to pay the other if they have roaming agreements. Meaning, we at company A will pay you $ X to allow our customers to roam on your (company B’s) network free of charge.

What is the best small-business phone system and why?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on February 27th, 2013
Question by texaspicker0: What is the best small-business phone system and why?
I’m looking to replace my current, very old business phone system with a new model. I have tried to research for the systems offering the most features but am having a tough time figuring out which systems, if any, provide the features I need.
Specifically, I need a system with auto-attendant that can be configured to ring phones in a specific order based on the callers choices. (ie. for sales, system hunts in order of 1,2,3 but for service, system hunts in order of 3,2,1) In other words, I have personel who are very good at sales but can also do customer service and also have personel who are very good at customer service but can also do sales. I want to route calls to the best people without having to dedicate any individual exclusively to one department.
I also want the auto-attendant to have the capability to transfer to outside phone numbers.
Lastly, I also need voice-mail capability and night attendant.
I’m aware that many do these things, but which is the best?

Without knowing all of the specifics, I would recommend you look at ZeaCom. Great company, very helpful, they can help you grow and can do all of the things you are asking about and more. You can add more capabilties as you go. This is software, not the hardware, but they should be able to guide you. They were one company I was thrilled with.
Here is a very good book I read when I was planning the purchase of our new phone system. I really helped me plan out for today and tomorrow.

Q&A: Where can I set up a phone number for business that will forward to my cell phone?

Question by ChrisNY: Where can I set up a phone number for business that will forward to my cell phone?
I would like to put a phone number on my website (for business use) without giving out my REAL number. Simply, I would like to set up a number that will relay or forward to my cellphone without risking my privacy. How and where can I do this? Is there any way to do this for free?
Best answer:
Answer by Fozzee
Call forwarding is a paid for (unfortunately) service from most phone providers. You can either get a new number with voicemail (for when you want to turn forwarding off) and add the call forward feature to it. Or call your provider and have them add call forwarding to an existing number. It normally is a few bucks a month to have this feature added.
I am not aware of any software that can be added to a phone that would do this for free. Forwarding takes place at the phone companies main computer (switch) and they reroute the call from there not where your phone is located.

I need phone #’s for insurance companies which are a supplement to medicare such as AARP, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Health Care, Bankers Life, Humana Gold, and other insurance companies. Is there a list of these phone #’s? (toll free preferably but if not, other phone #’s will do) I need them to verify insurance coverage for residents.

Answer by Legs
the best way to get insurance company phone #’s is from the patient’s insurance card. if you don’t have access to the card, or if the family cannot provide one, most companies have websites, click on “contact us” and you can generally find the phone #. if no luck there, call 1-800-555-1212, which is toll-free information directory.

I think you mean “Automated answering phone system”. Well, they’re using software applications. The software application can be configured to handle multiple language so it can be utilized properly on message on-hold, dial-by-name directory feature, auto-attendant or phone greetings.
