I put an offer of $ 170,000 on a short sale duplex that was listed for $ 200,000. I was the only offer. The BPO came back from the bank at $ 230,000. How can they expect to get that much when there weren’t any other offers?
About how much would the bank lose to foreclose on the property and try to sell it themselves? Would it be reasonable for them to think they can make more money than my offer?
The sellers agreed to pay closing costs and section 1 items. If it becomes an REO it will be sold “as-is”. There are lots of REOs for sale in my area.

Doesn’t really matter what you think about bank refusing your offer, OR how many offers were submitted, or whether the bank is acting reasonably. They aren’t answerable to you. Foreclosure costs tens of thousands of dollars. It is tax deductible, but, when you consider they’re already at a loss, and everything less they take digs them a deeper hole.
You need to up your offer or move on to another property. Apparently there are many to choose from, so don’t spin your wheels.

I work in a call center and I feel like with a college degree, I should be making more even if it is a call center job.

Call centers are the start of many careers, but at $ 10 an hour it may not seem worthwhile. Apply for other jobs within the company at fast as possible (usually 6 to 12 months) and learn everything about the company, products, etc.
Your college degree will pay off, but not in that environment. Try to look for other jobs especially if you have a mid-week day off and make as much commission as you can to become a star.

I have worked in customer services for about 10 years. Every company is different with how much abuse you are expected to take. I have had jobs where I had to just take endless abuse, personal insults and just stand there and smile, and I have had jobs where I am allowed to hang up on or walk away from very nasty customers.
at my job now we are allowed to hang up if a customer way out of line.

Do your best for as long as you can. There comes a time when enough is enough. When you know there is nothing more you can do to make the customer happy just smile and tell them you understand but you’ve done all you can. Hang up or walk away. No customer has the right to verbally abuse you.

To my knowledge, I know that Human resources companies like adecco will take a percentage of your salary if you get hired through them. How much is that? Is it based on case by case? If so, what is the range (lowest-highest)?

that is not true, the employer pays for all of your time you are charged nothing, only state and federal taxes, it is illegal to charge for a job

My company uses a really bad POS system with about 150 clients. The POS software is garbage. Each of the cash registers has a SQL Server on it, and each connects to the central database server. The clients check for replication about once every 5 minutes. They are constantly replicating day and night, and on top of this each one has a service on it that pings the database server continuously. (When pinging stops the server assumes a problem.)
If all of this is done on a 100 Mb infrastructure, is all this activity going to saturate the line to the server? (These things are all continuously 24/7/365 replicating and pinging.)

When old commercial ships, (tankers, container ships and so forth) are sent to places like India and Pakistan to be broken up for scrap, do the companies that owned them profit from this, or do they have to pay to have it done?
If they are selling them for profit, approximately how much money do they earn per ship?
I’m talking about money earned or cost to the original owners of the ship, not the profits of the scrap companies.

After getting much more than 10 / 12 times of invested money as return, nobody should bother to pay for breaking a ship to crash and free some space and new look for fresh business.
