Calling All Cars: Artful Dodgers / Murder on the Left / The Embroidered Slip

The radio show Calling All Cars hired LAPD radio dispacher Jesse Rosenquist to be the voice of the dispatcher. Rosenquist was already famous because home radios could tune into early police radio frequencies. As the first police radio dispatcher presented to the public ear, his was the voice that actors went to when called upon for a radio dispatcher role. The iconic television series Dragnet, with LAPD Detective Joe Friday as the primary character, was the first major media representation of the department. Real LAPD operations inspired Jack Webb to create the series and close cooperation with department officers let him make it as realistic as possible, including authentic police equipment and sound recording on-site at the police station. Due to Dragnet’s popularity, LAPD Chief Parker “became, after J. Edgar Hoover, the most well known and respected law enforcement official in the nation”. In the 1960s, when the LAPD under Chief Thomas Reddin expanded its community relations division and began efforts to reach out to the African-American community, Dragnet followed suit with more emphasis on internal affairs and community policing than solving crimes, the show’s previous mainstay. Several prominent representations of the LAPD and its officers in television and film include Adam-12, Blue Streak, Blue Thunder, Boomtown, The Closer, Colors, Crash, Columbo, Dark Blue, Die Hard, End of Watch, Heat, Hollywood Homicide, Hunter, Internal Affairs, Jackie Brown, LA Confidential …

Greece entered World War II on 28 October 1940, when the Italian army invaded from Albania, beginning the Greco-Italian War. The Greek army was able to stop the invasion and even push back the Italians into Albania, thereby winning one of the first victories for the Allies. The Greek successes and the inability of the Italians to reverse the situation forced Nazi Germany to intervene in order to protect her main Axis partner’s prestige. The Germans invaded Greece and Yugoslavia on 6 April 1941, and overran both countries within a month, despite British aid to Greece in the form of an expeditionary corps. The conquest of Greece was completed in May with the capture of Crete from the air, although the Fallschirmjäger suffered such extensive casualties in this operation that the Germans abandoned large-scale airborne operations for the remainder of the war. The German diversion of resources in the Balkans is also considered by some historians to have delayed the launch of the invasion of the Soviet Union by a critical month, which proved disastrous when the German army failed to take Moscow.[citation needed] Greece itself was occupied and divided between Germany, Italy and Bulgaria, while the King and the government fled into exile in Egypt. First attempts at armed resistance in summer 1941 were crushed by the Axis, but the Resistance movement began again in 1942 and grew enormously in 1943 and 1944, liberating large parts of the country’s mountainous interior and tying down …

Question by Ace B: Left the company even before starting work?
hi,
I joined a bpo company hoping that i would stay there for a long time. But unfortunately due to a family emergence i had to leave the job.
the thing is,after getting selected i only attended the induction classes for the first two days only. and on the the third day i am supposed to report to work, but i didnt because of my family emergencie. so technically i did not work at all nor did i undergo any type of training. i just attended the induction class along with many people belonging to different departments. I did not do any official work at all.
Because of my family problem reason
i left the job [which i didnt even start to work] and I am not planning to serve the notice period of two months.
And now the company wants me to pay the notice period money to them.
my question is,
what will happen if I dont pay the notice period amount?

I’m sure you must have signed a contract or employment letter. That is a a legally binding instrument, and you need to read it to find out what you agreed to pay if you didn’t serve a notice period.
Without a contract or your signature on any employment document, they cannot pursue you for the funds.

If you signed a contract stating you have to pay a breach of leave notice, then you have to pay it. If amiable terms fail, they can sue you, and then you’ll have to pay what you owe plus court taxes, lawyers, etc.
It’s better to just get rid of it.
Good luck.

Q&A: My mom aged 63 has an acute pain in her left thigh since 15 years. She had undergone a surgery of esophagus?

Question by Siddharth Banerjee: My mom aged 63 has an acute pain in her left thigh since 15 years. She had undergone a surgery of esophagus?
(Balloon Dilation ) in the year 2000, in Ruby Hall Pune. She is quite good with daily medicines. She has high blood pressure too. The pain in the thigh is qute difficult to express as its unbearable. We started with nutrilite vitamins and one of them being bone health with IPRIFLAVONE. The relief is to a larger extent excepting the pain is returning in a fortnight in place of everyday. When I massage her left leg, I feel a cartilage or muscle( not sure) just above the left knee moves. That movement, when massaged, brings relief when pressed hard or hardest she can bare. We had been around delhi and Pune but in vain. She is totally dependent on painkillers ( mobizox, combiflam etc.) but even painkillers are not bringing any relief.
Please advise and help her from this unbearable pain.

My dear friend!
Your anxiety to heal your Mom is commendable.
Please understand that the muscle tendons will loose their grip and strength with passage of age and lot of hard work put forth by ladies in their house hold duties. Medicines and pain killers no more work for them.
I fail to understand the pain in thigh and the esophagus operation done earlier. The operation was for some digestive trouble. Please don’t give her all sorts of pain killers, which will in turn act on kidneys, heart and other vital organs.
Best possible thing at home is:
(1) Give her warm up by Hot-Pack and alternative cold pack.
(2) Give very light pressurized massage with some good muscle-oil.
(3) All the organs of the body , when they become sick indicate the same through points on both the hands(palms) and also feet. Usually the thy and the Hip as part of sciatic nerve pain are governed by points on the back side of the palm of hand, and also on the lower part of the foot, heal. Please press these areas with your finger or a pencil, and observe if she finds it sour at some points. This sour point confirms her suffering area. Give acupressure two times daily for 3-5 minutes. Tis will cure her trouble. For more clarity read a good book on ACUPRSSURE or consult an expert.
(4) Homoeopathy has best solution for troubles like your Mom has. In and around Delhi, you can find a Doctor and please consult and take medicine.
(5) Wash the thy with water mixed with salt(not table salt but crystal shaped), twice a day, with a proposal that she is shedding all her negative energy in the process.
Please don’t use any allopathic medicine with out Doctor’s prescription. In the old age it is only inviting damage.
I wish you good luck and quick relief to your Mom.
