I worked in a customer service job for a month. I loved answering questions and helping people, and listening to their concerns.
However, it wasn’t the job for me. It also dealt with sales. I’m not a salesperson–I’m not aggressive/persistent enough.
I felt the products were not legitimate–they were for weight loss, “male enhancement,” and memory loss/depression.
My supervisor told me when she let me go I wasn’t meeting the minimum requirements for convincing people to keep the products, but if I wanted a reference, she’d be happy to give me one. This makes me think she liked me as a person, but felt I wasn’t cut out for the job.
My question is, how do I explain the situation to prospective employers without sounding negative? I hated the rude people who treated me like crap. If I’d known the job would be in sales, I would never have taken the position.
Also, what are my chances of being hired by someone else? Will they understand I wasn’t cut out for that? Thanks!

Personally, I would be totally upfront about the whole situation. Make it clear that you wish to work for a reputable company that is protective of it’s customers. Also make it clear that you would not of taken that job if you had been aware of what the products were. An employer that is looking for reliable, long term employees will hopefully respect your “honor”.

For some time now i am not feeling well. I consulted a doctor and he told need to have the bed rest for a month due to my personal health issues. My company needs one month notification for a resignation. But i wrote my resignation stating two weeks notifications due to illness. I do willing to produce my doctor certificate in this course. I want to know , whether the company can consider my issue or not? Is there any rule for this case from government employment polices. Is it they can pay me My other benefits , PF etc …

I don’t understand your question(s). Are you asking whether your notice is sufficient under the special circumstances? Or are you asking whether your company is obligated to pay you for your sick leave and/or other unused benefits? Also, if you’re sick, why do you feel that you have to give your resignation? Most companies have disability and sick leave for just this purpose. Speaking with you HR department is the only way to answer your questions about your company’s policy.

I get so pissed off when people in India answer the phone and don’t understand what I say. Nothing against you, but I wish all the call center jobs in India would shut down and come back to the US.

the box above cut me off..anyway theres no room for actual customer service and I miss my job at pizza hut as a server 6 days a week. now im at a call center sitting on my fat butt not interacting with people in person, and being watched like a hawk. i mean cameras everywhere. i dont sit in the same spot for more than a day, and i have been there two months. its hell. not my scene. the hours are great and its close to my house. so i dont really have that much of a gas expense. im in sterling heights mi. help!!

Could you go back to Pizza Hut and look into getting on the management track? I personally think a call center would drive me to leap out a window. Good luck!

My good friend is in college and is working for nextel answering phone for customers, nothing wrong with that.
