Question by James: How do companies end up in bankrupcy, and is investing in companies that have debt good?
I understand every company has debt, but will it be safe to invest in stocks, if the company has it. Im also wondering if the company ever pays back the debt they owe?

Answer by jeff410
Most of the time they end up in bankruptcy because they are unable to pay their debts. If they miss a debt payment they are in default on the loan and creditors can call the loan due. For this reason the more debt a company has the more risky it is for stockholders, because they are last in line to get paid off. In this case there is usually less risk in buying the secured debt.

Question by : My father and his friend started a software company by investing equal shares.?
My father and his friend started a software company by investing equal shares. The company was running smoothly for one year and they decided to get loan and invested more money on their company. Suddenly recession has affected their business and his friend died due to heart attack. Is there any suggestion to resolve my father’s debt?

You need a financial consultant or a corporate lawyer, not us Yahoo! who don’t know the situation.
If the company is an actual legal entity (corporation, LLC, etc.) then it can declare bankruptcy, and would not affect your father. However, it almost sounds as if your father and his friend entered into a GP (general partnership). Only way to tell is to see the company papers and government registration papers. In that case, when one partner die, the partnership usually will dissolve. Again, this depends on the partnership agreement.
So the first thing you need is to find the partnership agreement of the company, that established the “equal shares” or whatever. THEN you can tell what needs to be done.

Always invest in stocks with strong up trends… raising share price. Find the stock symbols for the companies you find interesting. Enter those symbols (one at a time) into the free charting service at www.bigcharts.com. If the trend line is up that stock might be a good buy. Here are two suggestions: SSRI, JJG.
