My boyfriend has a job at a crappy call centre that doesn`t let their employees use the bathroom more than once or twice. He`s been drinking more water lately and naturally has to go. Are there any laws with this? (Canadian)

What is the best way to negotiate your hours at your employment?

Question by davidmichigan24: What is the best way to negotiate your hours at your employment?
I am starting a new job. My hours will range from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 11 a.m. to 8p.m. It’s a call center. I’d really prefer to work the 8-5 as that would allow me to work a 2nd job. However, my employers usually only allow that for people who have a family obligation or they are taking evening classes for a school. I’d really appreciate feedback as I the 8-5 shift would allow me to make an additional $ 200 per week.

As a manager, this can be a problem. They cannot give you a prime shift for no reason because then everyone else is going to want it. If you really want to give them a reason, then be the best employee in your area. Then management can justify giving you whatever you want.

Can I be forced to work extra hours for independent subsidiary companies in other countries?

Question by Josh D: Can I be forced to work extra hours for independent subsidiary companies in other countries?
My company is US based but discovered the tax breaks if they open new companies internationally as the businesses grows. They get new offices salemen and a manager but no operations or logistics. We buy and sell products and services to them and there accounts and inventory are seperate. The issue is that we must run there operations from here by switching in and out of databases and have to be oncall in different time zones to answer questions or issues without extra pay. We are salary employees who are exempt but is doing work for international independent companies included in that?

Question by sugarneisha: I am thinking about getting a job at a verizon call center…what are the hours like?
I have several questions about working at the call center..First of all I am a student. So, what is the salary like? Would I have to work on the weekends? Do they still pay for school if you are on a scholarship?
Best answer:

do they usually pay for school? weird. i don’t know many places that do that. but if you already have a scholarship, i doubt it if your scholarship covers all your school costs. i know that you would probably like to have the extra cash, but if its already covered they probably won’t want to
and if the call center is open in weekends i presume you would be required to work weekends at least some of the time. your shifts will be different each week

Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on November 17th, 2011
Question by SANDMAN: why is Pune, India 10 & 1/2 hours ahead of the US Central time zone?
I dont understand why that 1/2 hour occurs instead of being ON the hour like everywhere else in the world?
If you can answer this, instead of inferring from vague, defective or presumptive beliefs, please cite specific years, evidence &/or events of when what happened and fully elaborate on the reasoning.

The put the time zone 1/2 hour off so that they could put all of India into a single time zone.
EDIT:
Not EVERYWHERE…
You only need to go as far as Newfoundland (in Canada) to find an area 30 minutes out of sync. with the standard time zones.
