Question by : Hate customer services job?!?
I hate hate customer services job!!!! I work in retail industry for 2 years and all of the conpanines care about sale, sale and sales. They treat their employees like crap and offer them $ 8.00 per hour when we as a sale person has to deal with mean customers yelling and giving us a hard time everyday. Then on top of it, we have a stupid sale goals to make daily. And if a customer return the merchandise it will make our sale goal even higher and we have to be like sharks trying to get customers to buy the products so we don’t have to get fired.
I’m truly am sick and tired of customer service jobs. What is another job that doesn’t deal with customer? I’m a artistic person having a degree in fashion design. Im good at making crafts and sew.
Please help me. I feel like I can’t get any job and that I’m stuck working at a retail store for the rest of my life. I don’t know if I should change my major to culinary or education.
Right now I feel like a total looser and pathetic.

In my opinion, few people can be happy until they’re eventually in their own business. Try to do something simple for yourself, as opposed to something more complex for others.

Question by yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah: Is it true that technology companies hate hiring Ivy League grads in Computer Science?
I heard from somewhere that many software and technology companies avoid hiring computer science grads from Ivy League schools because essentially, they just need someone who knows how to program, and Ivy League grads come off as arrogant or too ambitious (a threat to management).
Is this true? Is it really hard for a company to hire someone from a top school for a programmer or IT consulting position?

Not really true.
But big system development is usually team work, the co-opearation attitude is something to concern as well.

One inbound call center had me sick to my stomach, and my nerves frazzled. The constant criticism and micromanagement finally made me quit. Another fired me after 8 months of pure misery because I was too slow…only capable of a maximum of 10 calls per hour. I know that there is a reason that a job is called work. However, I wasn’t aware that is it meant to be torture.

I agree with you.
I work for a Qwest call center, and sometimes I just can’t stand going to work and being yelled and screamed at constantly.
The only reason I’m staying there is because I need money while I go away to school, and call center jobs pay more, and give you more hours per week then any other job. Sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad.
Don’t worry about it, there’s a reason call centers have such a high turnover rate!
