Q&A: How do you handle going to a job you hate?

Question by NIcole: How do you handle going to a job you hate?
I hate my job. I went into this job under the advice of the HR manager. She recommended I get a job in customer service call center to move up in my company. I would have to stay in this job for a year and its been 3 months and I am just fed up. I work in the web support area which means I help people navigate the site and use online tools. I work for a health insurance company. The site goes down daily and I get yelled at and the pay for this is rediculous!! I can’t even enjoy my weekends without thinking of this job or enjoy my evenings when I get off everyday!! I want to quit so badly, but need the income for paying my rent and bills..I have applied so many places and no luck. It s-cks you go to college and can’t even get a job!! I feel trapped. I get depressed when I think of going to that job every morning. The thought of quitting is comforting to me. I was thinking of quitting and taking a small loan until I found another job to support me for the time..what do you think?

Man any technical support job or Customer service job sucks. All I can say is make the best of it. Keep applying for other jobs and hopefully one will make you feel better.
Until then, take a shot of alcohol before you go in everyday, might make things a bit funner lol.

I am looking for a call center in India who can help me handle my order taking, customer service, outbound telemarketing, and help desk support. I am willing to work with them on a performance basis. I am not sure how to find out. Any tips? I sell consumer products. I am also looking for phone, email and chat support.

Hi,
Well selecting the right call center in India service can be a tedious job. I spent several hours trying to find a call center in India. I got burnt twice and I finally found a company named International Services Outsourcing. They are based in Los Angeles but they have their call center in India.
They handle all my order taking, customer service and outbound telemarketing campaign. Great team. They have good agents and good pricing and most of all I don’t have to deal with remote companies. I strongly recommend their company and their agents in India have a neutral accent. I think I owe them atleast this for giving me a great service.
You can call them at 626 531 6080 and talk to one of their business analyst. They should help you. Good luck. Visit their website before calling them so that you know if they match your needs.
I received an article from them last year about “Things to know before you choose a call center”. It was very impressive and that made be realize what I need to know before selecting a vendor. Read that before you call any company. It was very useful.

After employee’s unexpected death: How to handle his customers?

Question by VB: After employee’s unexpected death: How to handle his customers?
An integral member of our tiny software company was just killed in a car accident. He was working closely with several clients, who will need to come back in and repeat any business they had with him. What is a tactful way to word this notification/request letter?
I’ve never spoken with a friend Friday only to find him gone Monday… any thoughts on personally dealing with this would also be welcome.

In this situation it’s better to call them on the telephone if you can, for two reasons. One, it’s more personal and conveys a deeper relationship between you and the clients, and two, it circumvents any doubts they might have about continuing to do business with you now that their point-man is gone. If the relationships were ongoing over many months or longer, they might feel that they’ve lost more than a business contact, so have funeral information ready when you call.
On the phone, if they have any questions about the status of their project or what the next step is, they can just ask, get their answers, and pick up where he left off. (Usually the first thing they want to know is whether they need to find a new company, so you’ll want to assure them that you’re going to take care of them.) In my experience, they’re absolutely understanding and dedicated to filling in the new person on the details, and it helps them feel more involved.

I have been living with my gf for past 1 month. We are in a relationship since past 2 yrs.I am 23yr old guy and Work as a software engineer in a MNC.It has been great living with her.But what irritates me most about her is her attitude towards housework. She is a student and works part time in a BPO.SHE IS A CLEANLINESS FREAK AND A TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS WHEN IT COMES TO HOUSEWORK.SHE Demands me to do housework as well. What the fuck.If I do the housework then who will do my job.I tried explaining it to her but she just turns on her waterworks and starts sobbing as if I am killing her or something.I sometimes have to stay back for late hours at night in office and when she started complaning about it,I BROUGHT my work back home.and that also made her angry as she started accusing me that i dont spend time with her.how much more time does she want from me.we live in the same house and still she wants us to go out together on weekends. And anyways Its a woman’s duty to look after the house.I Really really love her and dont want to breakup with her.But is there any other way of making her understand my problems.

How do you handle difficult job interview situations ?

Question by CapAIM: How do you handle difficult job interview situations ?
Today I had a phone call with a woman to schedule an interview. She asked me a basic question about what kind of work the company I was previously employed for did. Now I had worked for one company that did Business Process Outsourcing work but was purchased by a printing company. I did my best to explain this to her but it seemed that she had trouble comprehending what I said and she got a little agitated with me and accused me of not being able to comprehend. Now I know that the interviewer pretty much holds all the cards and if they belittle you in any way, there’s little to nothing that you can do or is there ? What’s the best way to handle yourself when the interview is doing nothing but trying to belittle you and make you feel stupid ?

Explain that there must be an issue in the communication between the two of you, and attempt again. Apologize for the frustration. If there are still belittling comments made, you have every right to stand up for yourself. You could let her know that you feel her behavior is unprofessional. If that is a representation of the company you are applying for, look elsewhere.
An interview is not only to determine if a company wants you, but also if you want that company.
