Question by Joe C: What types of companies use games as a way to train in new employees?
I’m trying to get a feel for specifically what types of companies use mini-games or simulators to train in new employees. Sandwich companies or banks or manufacturing companies? Any ideas? Is there a certain type of company that has a demand for training games?

In terms of ease of use, features and expandability the Apple II was a major technological advancement over its predecessor, the Apple I, a limited-production bare circuit board computer for electronics hobbyists that pioneered many features that made the Apple II a commercial success. Introduced at the West Coast Computer Faire on April 16, 1977, the Apple II was among the first successful personal computers; it launched the Apple company into a successful business (and allowed several related companies to start). Throughout the years, a number of models were sold, with the most popular model remaining relatively little changed into the 1990s. It was first sold on June 10, 1977.[2][3] By the end of production in 1993, somewhere between five and six million Apple II series computers (including about 1.25 million Apple IIGS models) had been produced

Pune lost to DD by at 8 wickets at home, has the home games starting bugging teams in IPL?

Question by : Pune lost to DD by at 8 wickets at home, has the home games starting bugging teams in IPL?
Sehwag played a great innings of 87/40 after M.Pandey had played a good 1st knock (80/56) in IPL 5 so far, in Uthapa’s company (60/58).
DD chased that down in 16 overs, to go top of the table, with 10 points from 7 games.
Earlier DD lost at home, so did RR, KKR & DC is yet to win, teams are winning whilst travelling & losing at home, is it a new trend?? Pl share your thoughts………..
Pl try to answer this— Who will win next match b/w KKR & DC at the Eden Gardens ??

Best answer:

Answer by Pex Rox
Yes,I also find it very strange,I mean the home ground is an advantage to the home team as they know the conditions well but many teams have lost in their ones,
other question – I hope DC will win it but KKR is a very good team and DC lost to KKR earlier,I’m a big fan of the Chargers and I’m very very sad that they still haven’t won a game,I watched every single DC match and cheered for them till the last ball but what to do ,they lost yet again and I think the match is delayed due to rain ,that’s not good and if they loose this game I don’t think DC will be able to come back ,they are very far behind at the present so they definitely should win this one.I wish good luck for them !!!!

EDIT – oh no ,It was a wash out but what to do ,anyway at least DC got one point, that’s better than loosing the match, finally they are off the mark,I hope they will win their next games,

What software do tv companies use to broadcast live footage such as football games etc?

Question by : What software do tv companies use to broadcast live footage such as football games etc?
Just out of interest I wanted to know what TV companies use to put out live programs such as football etc, sometimes you notice cool transitions and such that goes to a slow motion of the football goal just scored, then switches back to the football live coverage? It must be real easy software because it would take to long to do this on complex im guessing?

It’s nothing to have dozen or hundreds of people working a sporting event.

You would have an entire graphics debt doing stuff ahead of time, and at the game it’s self. They can also pull the score automatically from the score board (in most cases).

You transitions, and video clips, and photos, would be all pre-made before you even get the game.

That being said, you can look up
- VT by Newtek (NBC channel 4 in Detroit uses it)
- and the Tricaster also by Newtek. They use it for the D-leages in the NBA, and at many colleges.
(Best of all, one or two people can work the Tricaster, by selves).

Hope those help.

Bruce Jenner and the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada (1976)

thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com William Bruce Jenner (born October 28, 1949) is a former US track and field athlete, motivational speaker, socialite and television personality. He is known for having won a gold medal for decathlon in the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics. Following his Gold medal, his professional career evolved into being a television celebrity. Since the 2007 debut of Keeping Up with the Kardashians he has been known as the step-father of the Kardashian sisters. Jenner placed third in the decathlon at the 1972 US Olympic trials and finished in tenth place at the 1972 Munich games. His success prompted him to devote himself to an intense training regimen, while also selling insurance outside training hours. He acknowledged that he was supported and subsidized by his then wife, Chrystie Crownover, who worked as an airline stewardess. In the era before professionalism was allowed in athletics, this kind of training was unheard of. During that period he spent eight hours a day at the San Jose City College track. Centered around Bert Bonnano, the coach at SJCC, San Jose at the time was a hotbed for training aspiring Olympic athletes, including Jenner, along with Millard Hampton, Andre Phillips, John Powell, Mac Wilkins, Al Feuerbach and others. In 1974 and 1976, Jenner was the American champion in the event. At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, he won the gold medal in the Decathlon, setting the world record of 8618 points. What software do major companies like EA and THQ use to make video games?

Question by Kevin S: What software do major companies like EA and THQ use to make video games?
I was looking at Lightwave 3D but I dont know if it can actually make the games or just put in effects, so does anyone know what they use or some great software to make games.

Best answer:

Answer by Kasey C
Lightwave is a video editor (used to make effects for Babylon 5, among others)

The actual games are written in C++, calling upon various in-house, licensed, or shared libraries. Different studios would have different libraries and standards available.

Try reading the credits of your favorite EA or THQ game to get an idea what’s involved.
