Q&A: How do I find a list of all the medium size hi tech companies in Silicon Valley?

Question by Curious7: How do I find a list of all the medium size hi tech companies in Silicon Valley?
I’d like to find a mailing list of all the CEOs in Silicon Valley that run medium size hi tech firms with revenues between $ 5 million – $ 200 million. If such a list is not available, I could make do with just a list of company names and their website addresses.

Is there an industry association that these firms belong to that perhaps has a membership directory?

Best answer:

Answer by Tim F
Yes, you can obtain a list of the hi-tech (and other) companies in Silicon Valley through the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. See the link, below.

Check their website for basic information, such as you described. Contact the chamber is additional information is required.

Hope this helps.

Putting together a business plan, where can I find research data?

Question by Ronbo: Putting together a business plan, where can I find research data?
I’ve got everything else covered but am having trouble finding research data. My business is in inventory management… That is helping other small to mid sized business get a handle on their inventory issues. Unfortunately, I cannot find any sites with reliable research data for market analysis and growth. I know some of the key competition is Price-Waterhouse and RGIS, but even these sites don’t offer any insight. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

®ReferenceUSA www.referenceusa.com This great database is available with only a library reference card. It includes millions of businesses and contact information and is searchable using industry classification codes (such as SIC or NAICS).

®Gale Databases. Their Encyclopedia of Global Industries is a great summary of current trends in numerous industries. These are also available for free through most library online database systems.

®US Census www.census.gov The US government census site provides unexpected gems of information, from population demographics to income data for given geographies.

®ESRI www.esri.com This fabulous GIS software company has excellent demographic information. Use their free zip code look up tool to find the top demographic segments in the desired geography. Go to http://www.esri.com/library/fliers/pdfs/tapestry_segmentation.pdf for more information on the Tapestry Segments.

Stock market declarations, Companies House (in the UK), White papers from research consultancies (paid) are other options.

How can I find work with two drug convictions(misdemeanors) in DC,MD, OR VA?

Question by TONY: How can I find work with two drug convictions(misdemeanors) in DC,MD, OR VA?
I have been turned away from many job positions due to my criminal history, I wish to work in an call center enviroment or any positions that wont deny employment due to Marijuana violations.

Best answer:

Answer by You know who it is
Uh… Dude you screwed yourself, any drug conviction will destroy your chances of getting any decent well paying job. Why do you think its so hard to go legit for a thug? Why do you think they constantly hustle and work the corner of the block? Because the real world won’t hire a convict. If you’re smart, I recommend you go to school and pick up a trade, especially in carpentry or light construction. Then you can start up your own business. btw, you might want to look into construction. Its back breaking work but if you got a good work ethic, and willing to learn, it might pay off. As far as working for a corporation or anything like that. Forget it, you’re done. 1 conviction, you can BS it, but 2? You fucked up dude. Besides Most of the main companies in this area work for the government and require a security clearance, therefore they wouldn’t touch you with a 50ft pole.

But yeah, pick up a skillset or trade. Stay away from the office work or corporate life, they’ll turn you down instantly.

Welcome to the big leagues.

Who does one contact to find out about cleaning lease/rent/forclosed properties ???

Question by mobileminiatures: Who does one contact to find out about cleaning lease/rent/forclosed properties ???
We are looking for information on how to get employment cleaning forclosed properties…We have been advised that real estate companies often hire persons to clean for them, and to haul off everything that was left behind when people either leave in the night or have to vacate the property for some reason. We have experiance, references, and a large box van to work with. Is there some official name for this position ( other than cleaning, of course ) ??? We live in mid-north Indiana, and would appreciate any information we can get from anyone who has either provided this service, or who hires people for these type positions. Thanks !

To find work in this area, prepare a flyer stating experience, etc., and send it to realtors and rental agents in your area. You will probably have to be bonded and you’ll have to find out how many days you must retain those possessions before they are legally yours.

What is a good job opportunity in the midwest? I am willing to move anywhere, but need to find a career?

Question by Dan R: What is a good job opportunity in the midwest? I am willing to move anywhere, but need to find a career?
I have a BA in Communication and have spent 2 years in sales/customer service. I am willing to move anywhere in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri or Wisconsin. I’d love to find a state job or an organization that offers a pension for long-term commitment, but can never seem to find anything. I don’t really care what I do, but I learn quick and work hard. Does anybody know of an opportunity that might be available to people willing to relocate?

Best answer:

Answer by I love you Michael forever
Your guess is as good as mine. You do know the USA is having another great depression right now, don’t you? That is why I dread having to go back there. The only reason I ever go back there is because my parents are there, and as a single, unemployed girl, I have to keep going back and living them when I am jobless.

I mean, I hear these days of how now McDonald’s can even have their pick of applicants. Before, most people would not even try to work there, but now, places like Taco Bell get tons of applicants for 1 or 2 openings. Good luck to both of us. I say you should open up to the idea of even leaving the USA.
