Question by MsW: Do you work in your chosen field, or do you work where you work because it’s what’s available?
I used to work at a software company. Now I do gardening.
Although I like gardening, it has it’s own rewards, and I make more money than I did in graphic arts and software, I miss being in a company.
What do you do and why? is a more basic form of the question, I guess.

I’m a psychologist, and I’m now retired, but I have done that and had other jobs at the same time … I was a ‘hare’ … a true workaholic. I’ve been everything from a professional gardener to a pet breeder … cats, dogs, and every rodent possible. I actually LIKE being retired, but I’d get ‘very bored’ if I couldn’t come to Y!A and answer questions every day … nobody comes to ‘visit’ and my husband works, and that’s the way we like it, but I’d get lonely if I didn’t have Y!A to turn to when the apartment seems ‘too quiet.’ No, I don’t listen to the radio, play music, or watch television during the day … I don’t want ‘noise’ … just the answers I give does it for me!

I’ve been looking for a job for the past four(4) months and have not been successful. I have skills in customer service, data enty, call center, administration, and requestor for medical records/insurance. I’m in desperate need for a job that will pay me at least $ 11.00-$ 12.00/hr. I’m a single parent and I have to make enough money to provide for me, my 4 month old son, and our financial expenses…PLEASE HELP!

Smithia hirsuta carpets: Kaas valley of flowers Smithia Hirsuta or the Hairy Smithia is a slender, erect herb, 30-35 cm tall from the pea family found in abundance at Kaas plateau. It is also known as Kawla in Marathi and because of its resemblance with the famous Disney cartoon character, it is also called Mickey Mouse flower. Common nature enthusiasts call these flowers as “donald duck or smithia” wildflowers. These flowers are seen open in morning, in afternoon and in evening the petals close. The stem, either unbranched or with a few ascending branches, is covered by yellowish, glandular-based hairs. Leaves are pinnately compound, leaflets 2-4 pairs, each 6-10 x 2-5 mm, obovate or oblong, serrate, apex rounded, bristle-tipped. Flowers yellow, with reddish marks on two main petals in few-flowered, compact racemes at the end of branches. The flowers have 5 free petals – “standard” petal with reddish marks on 2 sides. These flowers are seen in monsoon and post monsoon season on hills and hill slopes. Flowering season is usually during the month of September and October. Kaas plateau of flowers is located in Satara district of Maharashtra state of India about 26 km away from. It is a plateau with amazing variety of flowers and wildlife. i m asking this in full of depression,i m doing MCA (final year)..i have scored very low marks in 12th (57%),but i m having 72% in 10th,ug with 80% and currently pg with 78%..its really hard to say i cant able to attend campus interview due to the low marks in 12th the basic need is 60% to apply for interview.i m having good programming knowledge.surely i will select if i get chance to attend interview,
i m getting chances only to work in BPO.but i wanna enter in IT field.pls help me..how can i approach companies?

In a health plan or HMO company. Many pharmacy divisions of health insurance companies have pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. The technicians take a lot of the initial inbound pharmacy calls.

I have completed B.E in electrical and electronics and passed out in 2008.Cuz of recession i didnt get a job in IT field so i worked in a bpo for 1 year and and right now i have got a job in service desk in a IT infrastructre management company.I am literally fed up of taking calls and want to move into software testing field as my friends insisted that there wont be much of growth in service desk field and i cannot move out of calling profile.Shall i go to s/w testing coaching classes and take that as my career.Am i taking the correct decision?

You’ll also get fedup of testing soon, its better u join some programming classes. any language like php,java,.net etc
or else u may go for database like Oracle if u don’t have interest in programming.

i am weak in maths. but somehow knowledgable in logic and etc etc. this is enough for me and with basic school finals qualicfications if i enter IT education after my knowledge in the field can i get good job or any company offer me old persons the chance?

Sure you can.
Logic is really more important then math doing software. Desire is a great motivator. You should look for a starting position in the IT field. Even if it in the mechanical end of it. You can work your way from there.
42 isn’t that old.
