I started training last week for a call center. I love what i am learning, but I feel like i am forgetting early things, trying to focus on the harder things now, when they all are important and have to be used to perform the job. What can i do to keep my cool and not get frustrated when i cant remember a step and need to either look it up or get help?

Take a small notebook and a pen. Write down things like “STOP-BREATHE”. along with your notes.

I’m moving to the area in 2 weeks and can’t do a long-distance job search (I live 2 hours away and work insane hours). My husband of 1 week is a student at the University of Delaware and had an apartment in the college’s family housing practically thrown at him today. He jumped on it, so SURPRISE I’m moving to Newark on the 8th! Not a bad thing (we live near Dover DE, one of the most boring places on the planet and horrible to find a decent job in) so I’m glad to get out.
I’m currently working as a department manager in a warehouse store so I have a lot of CS experience. I also have a lot of computer skills. I want to know how long to expect before getting an assignment through one of the temp agencies. I have a solid work history and I’m no slouch either. I can afford to be out of work for a month or 2 but still, I go crazy without work!

Well I grew up in Newark, DE but haven’t been there for awhile….although I hear the jobs are plentiful. Unfortunatly most companies go through temp. agencies to hire thier employees so I suggest you start there. I’m sure you will have no trouble getting a job in that area. By the way, I grew up on Cleveland Ave. which is right downtown. Its changed a lot since I was a kid but its still a pretty neat place to live. Good luck and God Bless

Can you share your knowledge..? on how is it easy or the advantage and disadvantage of decentralizing servers or data base in big company?. Our current situation is we have a big server in head office and a lot of servers in all districts? We need to decentralize.. wats ur suggestion?

Decentralisation can lead to more administration overhead as you’ll be maintaining more critical systems instead of just the one. You may also need to have admin personnel in the other sites in case any on-site maintenance tasks are required, alternatively there may be a fair amount of travelling for the admins between the sites.
On the positive side, if the databases are kept in the same building to where they are used, then used network bandwidth between sites will be less which will reduce communications costs, and potentially give the users faster access to the database compared to when the database may have been many miles away.
Also, having a single database in a single site is potentially a risk – flood or fire could destroy the business.

i have completed my MCA in october 2005. first look at my marks from 10th to MCA 10th class 45%, 12th class 57% , BCA 67% and MCA 68%. this is my marks from 10th onwards. because i am not eligible for top MNC. what shoult i do to get a software developer job as a frehser. if any company is giving me tranining i can adopt my self to any condition. please suggest me.

I’m assuming that by ‘fresher’ you mean freshman in college. As a manager at a software company, I can tell you that in my experience, we hire interns/co-ops based on recommendations from colleges. I have contacts at all nearby colleges, and we frequently review the best students as candidates for our intern/co-op programs. We usually only tend to hire from the Junior or Senior level, since they have the most experience, the professors know them well, and they’ve proven themselves.
My advice to you…Get in good with some of your professors at college. Find the professors that still have contact with the outside world. If there’s a tech company that has a dominant role in your school (ie supplying hardware, hosting seminars, etc), then try to get involved in something that will allow contact with individuals from that tech company.
It’s really just a matter of networking. Make yourself known, prove yourself, and show that you love what you do. Companies will be knocking on your door in no time.

I am just trying to find the easiest, idiot proof way of creating a webpage to view and enter data in one basic table.
This if for my husbands company and I really don’t want to get involved with the stupidity that is inevitably going to be involved in this. Too many people with no clue not knowing what they want and changing their mind every 5 minutes.
So if I can set it up so their website can just host an Access database and use Access design elements to create the webpage I can wash my hands of the whole thing.
But for some reason I just can’t seem to figure it out? Anyone have a good tutorial, or has done this before and can help me out?
Their webserver hosts a virtual Microsoft Server 2003, if that helps?

Its brainless but you should check with your hosting provider because they prob give you SQL for free. Even though its overkill for your application it won’t be apt to corrupt like Access and Access wasn’t developed for the web or multiple users.
It was developed to be part of the Office suite for personal use.
Here’s a better suggestion for a database.
For a Free Database:

The program to build your app:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa718378.aspx
to practice with and then copy it straight to your SQL Server. Or just use it locally from one of your machines.
Access uses a watered down version of VB so if you can program in Access you’ll like this.
