I am a Software Engineer,having 2+ yrs of work ex,I am interested to persue a career in investment banking.A few days back a friend of mine suggested that doing CFA would be a good option if you want to move to the financial sector.Now my question is how will a CFA add value to my resume as I am already a senior s/w professional?

Banks, insurance companies and investment companies often have need for programmers with an understanding of their business.

1. Get permission to send it first. A lot of companies will return your demo unopened if you don’t have permission to send it.
2. To that end, make sure you have a person to send it to. “Attn: (person’s name)” will get you further than “attn: demo department” on the address line.
3. Make it as professional as possible.
4. Understand that 99% of people who send demos never get a call. That’s not to discourage you, that’s just to make sure you go in with your eyes open.

Im a Canadian Citizen wanting to do several extended visits to the United States but cant afford to not work. If I get a job with a Canadian Company doing writing or call center work from home, can I legally continue to do that work while I’m visiting?

writing is ok for sure – as long as it is for a canadian company
That way you are not taking work away from an american
I would not want to have to deal with phone calls in the USA from a call centre
how will you get the calls?
who pays for the calls to your cell? You or the company?
and do you really want to be a slave to your phone all day?

I get so pissed off when people in India answer the phone and don’t understand what I say. Nothing against you, but I wish all the call center jobs in India would shut down and come back to the US.

If you re going for MBA it would be benificial for you to experience all aspects of business.
The more you learn first hand the better. It will make you a better manager/executive.

This tool is used before proposing new projects to a customer to evaluate NPV, cash flow, analysis, payback and other financial figures. The tool might interface with a proposal or point of sale type tool with cost and price data. The tool will collect proposal project financial data to determine its potential contribution to the companies bottom line. Usually, these type of analysis are completed using Excel. Much Thanks…….
I’m talking about a system to approve projects within a capital budgeting process….this is usually done in Excel – not external capital or real estate.

Are you saying that you want a program that shows your data to potential investors?
Unless you’re dealing with vending machine merchants or something extremely small scale (like hundreds of dollars or less), then I think these people dont even know about NPV, IRR, or EVA.
Also, a company uses INTERNAL ANALYSIS for reviewing transactions within capital budgeting.
I hope you are famaliar enough in dealing with business-customers that they are not simpletons like if you’re dealing with a small mom-n-pop business.
Whatever it is that you wish to show, as mentioned in the question, can be printed out and handed to them.
Also, all businesses that have a specialized capital budgeting department would prefer you give them the files in excel, to be INTERNALLY ANALYZED.
I am guessing you need to make your question more clear. Are you talking about securing loans to develop a real estate project? Or are you in trying to find investors for LBOs of small companies or are you trying to start a home business.

If your college does not have campus interviews, u need to keep a constant eye in the jobs section in newspapers for the cities like Delhi (including Gurgaon, and Noida) and Bangalore. there are BPO giants like Convergys,Gekis, VCustomer and Progeon in these cities. you can also look up for openings online at the websites of these companies. (you can also check epapers of newspapers for diff cities)
Also upload ur profile / resume on naukri.com and monster.com you’ll start getting email alerts right away.

Go for it. There’s no law against applying for such a program. But even if you say that you are ‘very good’ at certain things, unless you have the grades to back up such a statement, don’t even bother applying. Like if you are getting 50% to 65% grade averages, it’s not going to work.
