FIRST AC DOUBLE DECKER COACHES – INDIAN RAILWAYS @ 2010

THE FIRST & NEW AC DOUBLE DECKER COACHES BY INDIAN RAILWAY MINISTER SMT. MAMATA BANERJEE. RCF rolls out countrys first air conditioned double decker coach Posted on 01 April 2010 by zakir INVC,, New Delhi,, Rail Coach Factory (RCF), rolled out countrys first air conditioned double decker coach for oscillation trials on Delhi- Muradabad section. The Minister of Railways, Kumari Mamata Banerjee inspected the sample AC double decker coach at New Delhi Railway Station after its arrival from RCF, Kapurthala today. She had earlier announced the introduction of AC double decker trains while presenting the Railway Budget 2010 in the Parliament in the month of June, 2009. RCF will start manufacturing the double decker coaches after successful completion of oscillation trials. These futuristic high speed-stainless steel AC coaches would be introduced to cater to the heavy rush of commuters in high density corridors offering AC travel at a low cost. The first double decker train would be seen running on rail tracks by end of this year. The new coach with pleasing green-yellow colour scheme has all the features and the comforts of a Shatabdi coach. A totally new coach shell design capable of running at a speed of 160 kmph was developed by RCF engineers in tandem with Research Design and Standard Organisation (RDSO) within a short span of just nine months. In the new design, 128 passengers can be seated as compared to 78 passengers in Shatabdi chair cars, thus increasing the capacity

This video starts with a visual montage of the sheer number of air conditioners used on our street in Cairo, Egypt, describing them as energy parasites that actually increase the heat of the surrounding air. It then shows the vacuum tube heat pipe solar absorption cooling air conditioning system installed by solar engineer Les Hamasaki at the Debs Park Audubon Environmental Center in Los Angeles. Les Hamasaki describes the 10-ton solar chiller and we conclude with a note about how solar chillers not only eliminate the need for air conditioners, but the need for entire power plants. They also produce hot water and can be used for sterilizing and desalinating contaminated water. As we say in the video, solar air conditioners “USE THE SUN’S LIGHT TO DEFEAT THE SUN’S HEAT!” Thus, the hotter it gets outside, the cooler it gets inside!
