introduce them to yoga. sitting in those chairs all day taking calls has got to be frusterating and painful. it helps clear their minds and stretch their bodies. hand out stress balls, allow them to vote on an incense and bring in an instructor for a free weekly lesson before work.

if that doesn’t work hand out gift cards to starbucks.. if you can’t zen you can caffeinate!

Do you have to be very sociable to be a customer service associate?

Question by BallerBT: Do you have to be very sociable to be a customer service associate?
I’m applying to be a customer service associate at JCPenny and it’s saying you have to be friendly, like people……I am friendly and I like people but it’s also asking questions like “What are you like around strangers?” and the truth would be “I’m quiet”……I’m “shy” but do you think I could still do this job?

Can I work as a Licensed customer service rep in insurance if I was fired for force balancing previously?

Question by Brandon: Can I work as a Licensed customer service rep in insurance if I was fired for force balancing previously?
few years back, the official reason for my being let go from a job was for force balancing when I was a teller. I’m trying to get a new job with an insurance company as a licensed customer service rep(This is not for an insurance agent position). is that going to be a problem and I should look elsewhere for a job or am I still ok when the company runs a background check. Just want to know if I’m wasting my time or not. Please no harsh comments, I was an immature kid and made stupid mistakes in my past. I’ve grown up a lot since then. I just want to know if that is going to haunt me for the rest of my life or what.

I live in CA btw, if that makes a difference.

you should probably already know that we can not predict something that someone else will be deciding. you will have to try and apply and see what happens. trying something is never a waste of time.

Telemarketing helps because you don’t have to see your customers face to face. So you can be in whatever clothes you want and make yourself comfortable while assisting them.

Q&A: I am starting a business…It is customer service training company, what is the best way to market?

Question by holly s: I am starting a business…It is customer service training company, what is the best way to market?
My company will be providing customer service seminars/workshops, also interview seminars to better prepare a candidate for an interview, and also resume services.

Answer by jamie h
I would think you could get a tremendous of leads through local job recruiters. If you offer them a small fee for each referral they will send you both candidates for your resume service, and a list of companies in your area with contacts. Be prepared to give a presentation to these companies explaining the benefits of your service with direct correlation to the impact they can gain to there bottom line.

I was a Customer Service Agent for a major airline, but my interview was in 1963, and I don’t remember it much.

When you are being interviewed, tell your honest feelings, the way that you really feel, not what you may think someone wants to hear.

To dress for the interview, get rid of any body piercings, dress neatly in a dress shirt, ironed pants, and shined shoes. No jeans, tennis shoes, or t-shirts. You want to appear clean and neat. No dirty fingernails or hands.

Good luck.
Regards,
Dan

I think that it all depends on the company in question. Many companies have different job titles for similar positions and visa versa. Some companies will also hire without any experience and others will not.

When I think of a customer service supervisor, I tend to think of the customer service counter at my grocery store. There are always employees there to redeem lottery tickets, bottle returns, cash paychecks, handle money orders, and so forth. With that said, there is always a person wearing a different uniform standing on the sidelines. I tend to think of that person as the supervisor of the customer service department.

It wouldn’t hurt to apply for the job even if you don’t have any experience. Just know that your chances of getting a call for an interview might be less than others who apply.

When filling our your job application or resume, post as much relevant information as you can. This includes volunteer work where you worked with consumers and provided service. Something as simple as being a cashier at a mall store will help. Although you do not have management or supervisor experience, the customer service experience will come in handy.

Good luck!
