Q&A: How can gas companies charge so much per barrel when they are reporting record earnings?

Question by kalualani: How can gas companies charge so much per barrel when they are reporting record earnings?
You would think the government would do have some kind of cost control if these oil companies are making so much profit.

Can someone explain to me how the 3 top oil companies reported earnings of over 15 billion dollars after just the 1st quarter of this year and still cant control the cost per barrel?

Chevron released its results Friday after two of its biggest rivals, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp., already provoked public outrage with similarly large first-quarter profits. Combined, the three oil companies earned $ 15.7 billion during the first three months of the year.

I just dont understand it.

Q&A: Marketing Plan who is person in charge in the company to prepare it & which companies needs marketing plan?

Question by war_1948: Marketing Plan who is person in charge in the company to prepare it & which companies needs marketing plan?
Who should prepare the marketing plan is it enough for one person to prepare it?
What type of companies needs marketing plan for example Investment Company needs a marketing plan?

Best answer:

Answer by Biz Advisor
Typically the Marketing VP or Manager or Director (senior marketer) is responsible for the marketing plan, although she/he also has input from other departments such as sales, operations, finance, product development. In a small business, one person can be responsible for developing the marketing plan.

All businesses need a marketing plan: it is the foundation for sales (without marketing planning, sales can be a scattered effort).

Yes an Investment Company needs a marketing plan: what’s the market segmentation, target market, product differentiation, product life-cycle, promotion plan, pricing strategy, distribution program and so much more.

Q&A: How can cell phone companies charge so much for text messages?

Question by Shaded: How can cell phone companies charge so much for text messages?
I would imagine it costs the companies very little to send the small amount of information over the airwaves. What makes text messages cost so much? Is it simply the monopoly factor alone?

Best answer:

Answer by Mike S
its pure and simple. Because we pay it! if everyone who owned a mobile suddenly stopped texting then they would be forced to lower the price but that isn’t gonna happen any time soon

Q&A: Why do limo companies charge more for vehicles destined to drive kids to prom then they do for regular rentals?

Question by Walid Nasr: Why do limo companies charge more for vehicles destined to drive kids to prom then they do for regular rentals?
We’ve been shopping around for a limo for prom, and most companies have different rates depending on the event. Why do they charge 4 times more for prom then for regular rentals? If it’s just a matter of service differences (drinks, flashy lights, etc), is it possible to order the car for the regular pricing and still have it take the kids to their prom? Thank you!

Best answer:

Answer by Michael
They do it because kids are messy and they know every kid wants to go to the prom in a limo so they charge extra because they can. ( and I’m sure they add a bunch of special things inside of it or the occasion. )

Q&A: Is it illegal to charge a credit card for items that are not available for shipment?

Question by kjml2003: Is it illegal to charge a credit card for items that are not available for shipment?
I live in NY and thought that companies are not to charge your credit card until the merchandise purchased has shipped. We bought an item off the website in july and still havent received it. We were never notified that the item was on backorder and the credit card was indeed charged back when the order was placed. We have tracked down a member of the management staff who is asking for the credit card number in full to refund us our money. Shouldnt their database still have this since they charged it? I am worried about their credibiltity and would rather not give “some guy” my cc #. Thanks for any advise you can offer!

Q&A: How much does credit bumping companies usually charge?

Question by CB: How much does credit bumping companies usually charge?
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to clarify first of all, that I’m not talking about credit fix. I’ve already paid my debt but in order for the credit score to go up I’ve heard it takes a while. So, i’ve heard that they are credit bumping companies that improve your score more rapidly. All you have to do is provide them with the letters saying you’ve paid your debtors. Have anybody done this? And how much do they usually charge? Do you have some companies’ names? Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Best answer:

Answer by knowitall
Paying for this type of thing is one reason your credit is bad – they are a rip off. Many charge you then do nothing! They do nothing that you cannot do yourself – for free.

Why is it legal drug companies charge Americans more for drugs than they charge others in foreign countries?

Question by Sam V: Why is it legal drug companies charge Americans more for drugs than they charge others in foreign countries?
It seems that research and development that is done by US drug companies is paid for by the US citizenry. If we go to the goverment health plan, R&D will be the first to go.

Software companies that charge but don’t deliver?

Question by ♥ FairLady ♥: Software companies that charge but don’t deliver?
To make a story short… I needed to upgrade software to Pro version. It’s supposed to have a lot more features and functions.

They gave me activation code. I entered. I don’t see any difference between the Standard version and Pro version. I paid $ 20. They claim their computer shows I upgraded successfully to Pro.

I can not prove to them that I don’t see any difference.
The company don’t provide any phone number, or address.

Is there any place I can complain in this situation?
Ahhh …. Thank you Tom … I already got a great response!
