Question by pink hearts: Whats a good way to cope with call center job?
I work at convergys call center at first it was very exciting now I’m always late or just calling in. I don’t completely hate it and I do not like it one bit they are always breathing down your back about a sale. Okay customer want to cancel services what sense does that make”mam I understand you want to cancel services but I can offer you hbo for $ 5″ Wow and I’m a full time student and this is the most stressful job ever how to deal with call center stress besides quitting??

I had to work call center jobs for MANY years until I finally got enough education to work my way out of them for good. I hated it so badly that I busted out in tears many many times – quite literally. I finally realized that I had to take myself out of the job and just consider myself a speaker……just read the script, word for word. And then read each rebuttal, word for word. I practiced meditating between calls (*callers are hugely stressful), so I would meditate for a few seconds between each call which would help me steady my breath and my resilliance. “water off a ducks back”…… just meditating that I was not a sponge and would not absorb anything thrown at me from each previous call…….send the energy they spent on me right back into their universe.

These techniques helped more than anything but it’s a dedicated practice between each and every call. In my life, I took every opportunity to learn everything I possibly could to get out of that hideous line of work. If I had times of unemployment I would take on-line classes in accounting, computer software, insurance, anything I could do. After a few years I owned my own accounting business. Just keep your eye on your own ball. Telemarketing was by far the most emotionally stressful job I can imagine. Truly aweful!
