Question by dostonem33: If i just want a better OFFICE JOB, What do i have to improve in( software, or skills)?
Ok, right now i’m an office assistant but all i do is remove staples, organize documents and do what’s necessary. I never wanted this kind of job but the temp company gave it to me and i wasn’t getting interviews from companies , so i took this job and since i need money, i thought oh whatever i’ll do it.

.It’s fine, but i don’t really use any of my skills and the salary is pretty low to be able to live here in my city. It’s expensive in my city so i need a better salary. I have pretty good computer skills, some Computer programming , I know software, I know basic troubleshooting and I’m a good problem solver. In this job i use non of that!

Well right now I’m not really proficient at Microsoft office( i can get by but if they told me to do some Complex thing i would need to learn it from a book).. I mean,how can you be proficient if you don’t really use it?. I use other applications in my computer at home but not MS , but i hear MS is popular in office jobs. I’m also not a very good speaker cause i’m shy.

If i work to improve those 2 things( MSoffice skills, and speaking skills ) by studying on my own, can i get a better job than the 11/hr job i have? I’m from California.
I am not looking to be an administrator or something that requires high degrees, and I’m not really interested in going to schools to learn a career. I’m ok doing an Office job…but I want something better than lifting boxes. I’ve already gone to University

I had a low-level office job years ago and just kept asking for more work. Pretty soon they gave me more responsibility and paid for a home-study course in my field as well.

You can improve your MS office skills by running through the tutorials.

Just keep looking for opportunities to be more valuable.
