Question by Sheldon: Moving to San Fran from L.A. Where to get an apartment, with the ocean view and center to most companies?
So I decided to move up to the Bay area and look for a job there. I would stay in a hotel for a few days but where do I get my apartment so it could have a nice ocean view and also be close to most companies so when I get a job, I don’t spend lots of time driving or even worse I end up moving again. I work in IT mgmt field for Software companies. I’m thinking of renting an apartment in 815 Balboa – Capitola for example. Wise choice? How about Oakland, Richmond, San Jose north or south?
Please help me narrow down the areas that it would be best renting an apt. in so I could start my search.

If you plan to work in hi-tech your best bet for a job would be in Silicon valley but ocean views are going to be hard to come by. You might be able to get a bay view in Palo Alto, Redwood City or San Mateo. Half Moon Bay would be lovely but it is still a drive to San Jose and the big campuses.

I am part of a company with limited staff, but we operate around 450 rental units in different areas. I need a good software to handle all of these properties. I have been using tenant pro 5.0, but I feel like there are probably a lot of advances that have been made, and am looking to upgrade, either to the new tenant pro, or something better.

Most of the property management companies that I’ve worked for use Yardi which is put out by CTI. for your purposes you’ll want Yardi Voyager Residential. We printed monthly cash flow statements, printed monthly tenant statements, paid bills out of it etc.
It’s really a great management software.

Are there companies that charge to fill empty apartment units? I do not need an apartment manager. I need someone to fill my apartment units with tenants and that is it. Anyone know of any company that does this or does this service even exist?

As a long time renter I have not heard of such a service,you are competing with other apartment complexes and either have tenants or you don’t,perhaps you should take a look at your place and see what you can do to improve your chances of getting tenants,if you are having a problem getting them something is wrong,the price,the look or the up keep,etc………….
The place I live in is old and they have had problems getting tenants,so now have a move in special……………..
