There are basically NINE ways that you can get a visa to live and work in the US:

(1) Marriage (or engagement in anticipation of marriage) to a US citizen.

(2) You have skills that are in short supply in the US e.g. scientific or medical training. A degree is normally a must. Or you have superior specialist skills with at least 12 years experience. (H visas)

(3) You have an Employer who is willing to transfer you – but even the employer has to make a good case for you – so you have to be a manager unless you fall under category (2) above.(L visas)

(4) You may get a Green card in the diversity lottery (UK citizens, except N.Ireland, are not generally eligible unless you, your spouse or parents were born abroad or held a different citizenship.

(5)You own or buy business (does not get you permanent resident status i.e. no green card)You must be a national of a qualifying Treaty countries. The business must have a minimum value of around $ 150k (more the better) bearing in mind you will need somewhere to live and with any startup business you will need at least 2 years living money as back up. So a figure of $ 350k would be a nearer minimum (E-2 visas)

(6)You are an “investor” i.e. you have at least US $ 1m in assets to bring with you. half of that in a few areas. And your background will be investigated to the hilt. (EB-5 visas)

(7)You have a close relative (mother, father, brother, sister and no further) who is an US citizen who would sponsor you, approx time this take 2-12 years?

(8.The R1 visa is available to foreign members of religious denominations, having bona fide non-profit religious organizations in the U.S., for entering the U.S. to carry on the activities of a minister or religious worker as a profession, occupation or vocation

(9)THE UNUSUAL You are in a position to claim refugee status/political asylum. or You get a member of Congress to sponsor a private bill with legislation that applies just to you.
The S visa issued to persons who assist US law enforcement to investigate and prosecute crimes and terrorist activities such as money laundering and organized crime

Recruitment agent will not take you seriously if you are not already in the US. Writing for jobs is really a waste of time; likewise US employers have no idea what foreign qualification are or mean (except Degrees) it may pay you to get your qualification translated into a US equivalent, there are Companies that do this (www.wes.org) ..
But if you are getting a visa under (2) above then you need a job offer before you can get the visa. Your Employer will be your sponsor this will cost them upward of $ 5k. So you can see you have to be offering something really special to get considered They may also have to prove to the Dept of labor that there is no American who can do the job if the position is to be permanent ©

Government Surveillance of Dissidents and Civil Liberties in America

The surveillance state is a government’s surveillance of large numbers of citizens and visitors. Such widespread surveillance is most usually justified as being necessary to prevent crime or terrorism. The growth of state surveillance has led to concerns about the erosion of privacy and civil liberties, and also to worries that over-reliance on such measures may lead to complacency by law enforcement officers. Examples of fully realised surveillance states are the Soviet Union, and the former East Germany, which had a large network of informers and an advanced technology base in computing & spy-camera technology. (Castells, M. The Rise of the Network Society, 2000) But they did not have today’s technologies for mass surveillance, such as the use of databases and pattern recognition software to cross-correlate information obtained by wire tapping, including speech recognition and telecommunications traffic analysis, monitoring of financial transactions, automatic number plate recognition, the tracking of the position of mobile telephones, and facial recognition systems and the like which recognise people by their appearance, gait, etc. More recently, the United Kingdom is seen as a pioneer of mass surveillance. At the end of 2006 it was described by the Surveillance Studies Network as being ‘the most surveilled country’ among the industrialized Western states.[1] The ability to gather information about citizens is increased by mandating new checks on paper-based records

Why the customer services in Bank of America are the worst than any other businesses?

Question by customerservices07: Why the customer services in Bank of America are the worst than any other businesses?
I have banking with Bank of America for a long time and one time, I had a problem and the customer services were very unhelpful, rude and prejudice. The score for the customer services is -5 (minus 5) from scale of 1 to 10.
What I mean is that they are very rude people including the manager. They don’t value nor care about their customers. Why? Because they are the biggest bank in America. That’s why, they are not afraid of losing customers regardless of the WORST customer services EVER. I never heard of bank of America got any award for customer services. What I don’t understand is the people who work for bank of America. If they don’t like customers, why they have jobs that deal with customers. That doesn’t make sense at all.
Why Bank of America hire such people to work for them? That will destroy their reputation and eventually their business. That’s just plain stupid.

Mental Disorders, Illness, Health: Psychiatric Hospitals in 1950s America

Psychiatric hospitals, also known as mental hospitals, are hospitals specializing in the treatment of serious mental disorders. Psychiatric hospitals vary widely in their size and grading. Some hospitals may specialise only in short-term or outpatient therapy for low-risk patients. Others may specialise in the temporary or permanent care of residents who, as a result of a psychological disorder, require routine assistance, treatment, or a specialised and controlled environment. Patients are often admitted on a voluntary basis, but involuntary commitment is practiced when an individual may pose a significant danger to themselves or others.[1] Modern psychiatric hospitals evolved from, and eventually replaced the older lunatic asylums. The development of the modern psychiatric hospital is also the story of the rise of organised, institutional psychiatry. While there were earlier institutions that housed the “insane” the arrival of institutionalisation as a solution to the problem of madness was very much an event of the nineteenth century. To illustrate this with one regional example, in England at the beginning of the nineteenth century there were, perhaps, a few thousand “lunatics” housed in a variety of disparate institutions but by 1900 that figure had grown to about 100000. That this growth coincided with the growth of alienism, later known as psychiatry, as a medical specialism is not coincidental.[2] The treatment of inmates in early lunatic asylums was sometimes

Does anyone know how to get an actual person on the phone with Bank of America regarding short sales?

Question by Stephanie L: Does anyone know how to get an actual person on the phone with Bank of America regarding short sales?
My husband and I are trying to buy a short sale. Everything was in order, except by time everything was ready to close, the lean release on the 2nd mortgage from bank of America had a date that had expired…we only need that same paper with a different date to close, but no one can get a hold of them. Our mortgage will expire after friday, so we are really desperate to get this letter!

Answer by curse08
Good luck! BofA is the worst company to deal with when it comes to short sales. They have their guidlines in place with 3 levels of negotiators and a BPO/Appraisal at level 2. Each level is 30-45 days and if something is misplaced or not turned in on time you have to start all over again. Now, with them being in second position it may not be so tough. The bad news is unless you have a borrowers authorization signed by the seller they can not speak to you and only to the listing agent or negotiator working on the short sale. At this point the negotiator/agent should have direct contact with a BofA representitive and they will be the only one able to speak with them. Why does your loan expire? Or does your rate lock expire? See if they can’t extend it. Worst case you have to change rates but rates have gone down over the past few weeks so it may be a blessing in disguise.

Desegregation in Corporate America: African-American Civil Rights Movement (1950s)

The African-American Civil Rights Movement (1955–1968) refers to the social movements in the United States aimed at outlawing racial discrimination against black Americans and restoring voting rights to them. This article covers the phase of the movement between 1955 and 1968, particularly in the South. The emergence of the Black Power Movement, which lasted roughly from 1966 to 1975, enlarged the aims of the Civil Rights Movement to include racial dignity, economic and political self-sufficiency, and freedom from oppression by white Americans. The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. Between 1955 and 1968, acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations between activists and government authorities. Federal, state, and local governments, businesses, and communities often had to respond immediately to these situations that highlighted the inequities faced by African Americans. Forms of protest and/or civil disobedience included boycotts such as the successful Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955–1956) in Alabama; “sit-ins” such as the influential Greensboro sit-ins (1960) in North Carolina; marches, such as the Selma to Montgomery marches (1965) in Alabama; and a wide range of other nonviolent activities. Noted legislative achievements during this phase of the Civil Rights Movement were passage of Civil Rights Act of 1964,[1] that banned discrimination based on “race, color, religion, or national origin” in employment

No, they do not. They are very racist and hateful people. I will never bank with Big Banks ever again.

I currently have a lawsuit pending against them. One bank branch manager told me “Well, you’re Black and if you live here in this rural area you should expect to be treated with Racism or move out”.

Where I live there are mostly bigot filth trash and Bank of America is no different. I hate them with a passion.

The Rich in America: Power, Control, Wealth and the Elite Upper Class in the United States

thefilmarchive.org The American upper class describes the sociological concept pertaining to the “top layer” of society in the United States. This social class is most commonly described as consisting of those with great wealth and power and may also be referred to as the Capitalist Class or simply as The Rich. Persons of this class commonly have immense influence in the nation’s political and economic institutions as well as public opinion. Many politicians, heirs to fortunes, top business executives, CEOs, successful venture capitalists and celebrities are considered members of this class. Some prominent and high-rung professionals may also be included if they attain great influence and wealth. The main distinguishing feature of this class, which is estimated to constitute roughly 1% of the population, is the source of income. While the vast majority of persons and households derive their income from salaries, those in the upper class derive their income from investments and capital gains. Estimates for the size of this group commonly vary from 1% to 2%, while some surveys have indicated that as many as 6% of Americans identify as “upper class.” Sociologist Leonard Beeghley sees wealth as the only significant distinguishing feature of this class and, therefore, refers to this group simply as “the rich.” ” “The members of the tiny capitalist class at the top of the hierarchy have an influence on economy and society far beyond their numbers. They make investment decisions

OSHO: Bravo America – Glimpses of a Cosmopolitan World

Osho, a contemporary mystic has spoken on virtually every aspect of human consciousness. In these talks, the human mind is put under the microscope as never before, analyzed down to the smallest wrinkle. In this talk Osho speaks about George Gurdjieff, mystic and spiritual teacher 1866 -1949. Gurdjieff’s last words to his disciples were, “Bravo, America.” I have heard you appreciated his insight about America, but right now the way American bureaucracy and politicians are behaving, it seems the words of Gurdjieff are no longer relevant. “No, they are still relevant. A man like George Gurdjieff never becomes irrelevant. People of that category are eternally relevant. Politicians may be behaving in an ugly way — the only way they know — but America is not just the American politicians.” This video is available for translation as part of the ‘OSHO TALKS Video Translation Project’.
