At the Festival of New American Music in the Sac State Music Recital Hall, November 15th, 2009. This is a Pat Metheny composition called “Last Train Home” with lyric added by a friend of Nancy’s, so the tune is renamed “Crooked Road”, and this version was arranged by Sac State’s own Roger Coss. C-Sus is made up of Courtney Anderson, Katy Sullivan, Alicyn Yaffee, Kendell Mease, Karen Cacho, Emily Messick, Grace Duncan, Tim Weiss, Tim Stephenson and Jamesson Kaupanger. Pete Agraan on drums, Brett Cole on bass and Kerry Marsh, the director, on piano.

This recording does not do the song justice. I was in the audience that night, and this song was quite the experience. I actually was searching for it just now to see if I could hear it again, and I’m a little saddened to have found it, but not a proper audio recording.

That’s so cool that one of your Sac State students arranged “Last Train Home”! I’ve been working on my own arrangement of that song, and that gave me some great ideas for a few of the voicings.
