Question by winssqueeky: How can I become a virtual assistant? Where can I look for jobs?
I’ve had about 7 years experience in office work doing everything from data entry to Microsoft office to Excel to phones to mailing to customer service to scheduling appointments. I am very interested in working from home. I think that’s pretty cool. I don’t want to be scammed either.
Where can I find a reputable site to post my resume to and look for jobs there?

Putting together a business plan, where can I find research data?

Question by Ronbo: Putting together a business plan, where can I find research data?
I’ve got everything else covered but am having trouble finding research data. My business is in inventory management… That is helping other small to mid sized business get a handle on their inventory issues. Unfortunately, I cannot find any sites with reliable research data for market analysis and growth. I know some of the key competition is Price-Waterhouse and RGIS, but even these sites don’t offer any insight. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

®ReferenceUSA www.referenceusa.com This great database is available with only a library reference card. It includes millions of businesses and contact information and is searchable using industry classification codes (such as SIC or NAICS).
®Gale Databases. Their Encyclopedia of Global Industries is a great summary of current trends in numerous industries. These are also available for free through most library online database systems.
®US Census www.census.gov The US government census site provides unexpected gems of information, from population demographics to income data for given geographies.
®ESRI www.esri.com This fabulous GIS software company has excellent demographic information. Use their free zip code look up tool to find the top demographic segments in the desired geography. Go to http://www.esri.com/library/fliers/pdfs/tapestry_segmentation.pdf for more information on the Tapestry Segments.
Stock market declarations, Companies House (in the UK), White papers from research consultancies (paid) are other options.

What is the employee discounts for convergys and is it a good work place?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on May 20th, 2013
Question by pink hearts: What is the employee discounts for convergys and is it a good work place?
I was recently hired to work at convergys call center but will not be starting training until december. what are the employee discounts? And is the company a good place to work?
Best answer:
Answer by Yeahthatsright
I don’t think Convergy’s has a discount. They aren’t selling a product you would need to be discounted. It’s a service- based business. Also, my sister worked for the company and it’s the basic call center environment. You will have crazy coworkers lol and training that’s inadequate, at best. It has a very high turnover rate, BUT I’m sure people who are good at phone contact will do a good job.

Are there any retail jobs that offer 8 to 4 or 9 to 5 schedules?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on May 19th, 2013
Question by eye_candy380: Are there any retail jobs that offer 8 to 4 or 9 to 5 schedules?
I know alot of them claim to be flexible and I dont need to be “flexible” I need a steady schedule. It doesnt even have to be retail it can be something else (hotel, resturant, customer service). It also has to be full-time. I need to move by Dec 1st. And I dont need a seasonal job. I’ve only had two jobs, Target and a daycare facility.

Answer by Brandi C
Retail stores that are open the hours you want to work are the only ones that are going to have those hours. There aren’t many options, so you will just have to check them out first to see what their hours are. Most retail stores are open evenings and weekends, which are their busiest times so that is when they usually want empoyees to work. Other options are call centers or businesses like cable tv and phone companies, many have regular weekday hours and hire customer service reps. They usually require some customer service experience, so play up your work at Target. Look online at places like HotJobs, Careerbuilder and Monster and search for jobs, look for customer service jobs.

How do you communicate to an employee that they’re rude to customers, or coach them to be kinder?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on May 19th, 2013
Question by Ann: How do you communicate to an employee that they’re rude to customers, or coach them to be kinder?
I am a corporate skills-coach for customer service, so I don’t have the authority to “fire” people; and recommending letting people go is not something the supervisors over different offices will be readily open to. I mainly just want to do my job and help to correct the problem. Any ideas on how to confront this rep directly about sounding harsh/rude to customers, in a way that’s effective vs. damaging?
Everyone is getting coached, and everyone gets reviews. On first review I threw in a couple of neutral/nice things then said “The only thing of significance here was a note-to-self to remind reps about keeping things in perspective when asking for ID’s and phone numbers – comes off harsh sometimes.”

One tip would be to approach them and let them think that everyone will be coached on their customer service. People respond better to ‘negative’ feedback when they don’t feel they are being singled out.

Low Magnesium cat food – can it be used for prevention?
Posted by PuneStuff in Pune Stuff Questions & Answers on May 19th, 2013
Question by Q&A Man: Low Magnesium cat food – can it be used for prevention?
Would there be drawbacks to giving cats Low Magnesium cat food that have no previous urinary infection issues?
Best answer:
Answer by Ken S
The drawbacks is that they are usually very high in carbohydrates which can cause a host of other problems. I assume you have one that has a history and another eating the food?
The thing is, aside from cleaning out the litter box, they both should be fed a species appropriate food which means no dry foods
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingredient a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?
http://www.catinfo.org/#Learn_How_To_Read_a_Pet_Food_Ingredient_Label
http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/InterpretingLabels.htm
Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s, constipation, and a host of other problems. Male cats are especially prone to blockages
from dry food. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. ( Have a fat cat?)
An even bigger problem is that it IS dry and it dehydrates no matter how much your cat drinks
Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food. Cats are not naturally big drinkers.
95% of the moisture is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Think about it.
Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don’t use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
http://www.catinfo.org/#My_Cat_is_Doing_Just_Fine_on_Dry_Food
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn’t have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.
THE BEST CAT FOODS CONTAIN NO GRAINS NO BYPRODUCTS
Cats are meat eaters not cereal or rice eaters
Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.
Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php
Please read about cat nutrition.

Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/Vets.htm
